Do you love to see birds in your yard and garden? Here are a few tips to help you attract your favorite birds. The first thing is provide a water source; birds love fresh water for bathing and of course drinking. Get a yard water fountain or pond with a pump that creates water motion. Still stagnant water will attract mosquitoes and other bugs.
In my garden we planted sunflowers, when fully in bloom they provide an excellent food source. Research the trees in your yard and this will tell you the type of birds that nest in them. Provide bird houses, set up bird feeders. Remember squirrels love bird food. A squirrel guard is a good investment. You can also plant flowers and trees that will attract birds.
Humming birds are fun to watch, they are attracted to certain flowers. Some birds might feed on trees that produce berries providing food for numerous species of birds. Always remember if you feed your backyard birds, they depend on you year round and there could be disastrous results if they lose that food source. Not all birds fly south in the winter months. With a little time and effort you too can create a great space for your area birds. And one more thing, don’t forget to get some binoculars. You will surely need some for the hours of bird watching fun.
